"Hello World"

So I have my site live right now at Chaffmap.com, however, it is extremely buggy. To be honest I have very little clue as to why the site does not work when pushed to heroku, it works much better when on my local server.

This class ties directly into my thesis work here at ITP. (github here). I’m building a web platform for businesses to post by-products, and the platform will be a place to share products made from said by-products as well. As such, it will need to be dynamically updatable. I have developed quite a lot of it, including connecting mongo DB for databasing and Amazon S3 for storage, setting up routing with express, and beginning to switch to React and Axios from vanilla javascript. This is where I’ve encountered my latest issue. I asked the question about URL changing in the first class as I was having trouble with it, and now something truly weird seems to happen with the register situation.

For some reason it can’t find the userJSON route, though it is there. It has no problem finding the userJSON route for logging in. And even when registering, the back end creates a user just fine and adds them to the database. Very confused.

As you can see, the form has processed correctly, but the post route is not found, so an error is thrown, we never generate a new URL and are eventually directed back to the homepage.

here is my terminal output from server side, showing that the form was processed correctly, and a new user was created… so I’m not sure why it can’t find the userJSON route..

As here, the login (yes it is a different user) works, and the user is found and identified..
